This map depicts the patterns of freshwater mussel (Mollusca: Unionida) species richness and endemism in the 90 freshwater ecoregions of Africa and Madagascar. In addition to a literature review, more than 6630 specimen lots from 17 major research collections were examined, identified, and georeferenced.
