European Patterns of Species Richness and Range Size in Groundwater Crustaceans

An extensive dataset on European groundwater crustacean fauna was assembled, encompassing locality‐based species occurrence data for 1,570 species. For the first time, this dataset enables to document and understand European patterns of groundwater species richness and range size using georeferenced localities rather than species lists for broad geographic regions.

The European groundwater crustacean data set was compiled with joint efforts of Florian Malard, David Eme, Pierre Marmonier (University of Lyon, France), Diana Galassi and Fabio Stoch (L'Aquila University, Italy) and Cene Fišer and Maja Zagmajster (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia), who divided the curatorship on different crustacean groups. Jean‐François Cornu assembled many of the environmental data used for modelling biodiversity patterns.
